Biography
JSAL is an award-winning Jordanian-Canadian recording pop artist, performer, breast cancer survivor, and motivational speaker pioneering Phoenix Pop—a self-defined genre blending cinematic, anthemic English pop production with subtle Middle Eastern scales (Maqamat), vocal ornamentations, and traditional Arabic percussion. On a mission to awaken the phoenix within every listener, JSAL’s core vision is to build an empowering global movement that inspires individuals to choose hope over fear, claim their personal sovereignty, and make rising an intentional daily practice.
Raised with a deep instinct for musical storytelling in Jordan, JSAL developed her foundational musicianship on a childhood piano and through extensive church choir involvement as a soprano, choir trainer, and vocal and instrument arranger. She expanded into private lyric journaling as a safe space for emotional release before her trajectory took a profound turn after moving to Canada, where she was diagnosed with breast cancer in January 2023. During grueling treatments and long hours in hospital waiting rooms, songwriting transformed from a reflective outlet into a vital lifeline of survival. From that crucible, she established The Phoenix Saga—birthing her debut album Rising Phoenix, reflecting: "I didn’t just write songs for Rising Phoenix, I wrote my way back to life."
At the foundation of her artistry are the Seven Pillars of Empowerment, a philosophical framework designed to confront hopelessness and rebuild self-worth through active daily choices, perspective shift, emotional recovery, boundary setting, internal cultivation, resilience, and collective belonging. JSAL expands on these principles through The Resilience Room, a reflective blog dedicated to candid conversations around healing and creative growth. Where Rising Phoenix established her story of overcoming acute trauma, her sophomore upcoming album, Secret Garden, represents the next phase of post-traumatic growth. Grounded in the philosophy that "you can only control your own garden," the new era shifts focus toward internal sovereignty, mental peace, and cultivating personal strength free from external noise.
JSAL’s rapid rise in the Canadian music landscape reflects both her vocal power and artistic authenticity. Following her nomination as Emerging Talent of the Year by Mississauga Music in 2024, she was named the 2025 Marty Award Winner for Emerging Solo Vocalist by the Mississauga Arts Council and Emerging Talent of the Year 2025 by Mississauga Music. In May 2026, she completely sold out her Rising Phoenix headline launch showcase and carried that momentum into a summer tour featuring over 33 live performances, earning 2026 Mississauga Music Award nominations for Album of the Year and Fan Choice.
On stage, JSAL showcases exceptional flexibility across multiple live setups, delivering high-energy, broadcast-ready performances in any setting—whether commanding the room solo acoustically, executing sharp pop choreography with high-energy backing tracks and dancers, or powering through with her live band, The Underground Live, led by Musical Director, Smoove. Fusing pop hooks, versatile live arrangements, subtle Middle Eastern tonal ornamentations, and custom visual projections, her shows create inclusive spaces where diverse communities see their stories represented. Looking toward May 2027, JSAL will release her 7-track album Secret Garden, accompanied by a flagship showcase that kicks off her 2027 Canadian National Tour—continuing her mission to share music not just to be heard, but to be felt as an anthem of endurance, purpose, and hope.
